Tottenham trying to salvage their Premiership season

Tottenham are in spot 5 and will today fight for themselves and all the teams behind Chelsea, who are on a 13-game winning run and have gone rather far ahead in the table. If someone doesn't stop them soon, the championship could be decided very early on

This is one of the key matches in the race for the championship because Chelsea are on a 13-game winning run. If Tottenham fail to at least get a draw here, Chelsea will go 8 points ahead of Liverpool, which will be very hard to make up for, despite the fact there are 18 rounds left. 

Tottenham therefore kind of need to try and save the Premiership, which puts a lot of pressure but also gives the team from North London a lot of motivation.

When these two rivals met on November 26th at Stamford Bridge, Tottenham had no defeats in the league. They took the lead 11 minutes into the game as Eriksen scored but Chelsea equalized late in the first half. Then, 51 minutes into the game, they took the lead and ended up winning. They have nothing but wins since and will go into this derby match with a lot of confidence.

- This game is very important for us and the entire league. Two away wins saw us make a great atmosphere and preparation for this game - Pochettino said. He cannot count only on midfielder Lamele. We can say that midfielder Alli and forward Kane are in great form.

The two of them scored 18 goals in the league this season and Kane was injured for over a month. This is at the same time the meeting between two top defenses in the league. Tottenham conceded only 14 and Chelsea 13 goals. Llorid and Curtious are definitely the two top goal keepers in the league and top 5 in the world.

- This will be a tough game, Chelsea are in great form but I believe in my players. I want the fans to create the kind of atmosphere that will give us a lot of energy again. We are not thinking about their 13 wins but how to play better than last time when we outplayed them in the first half. I think this game comes at a good time for us and we are all optimistic - Pochettino said.

Tottenham have fond memories of their first meeting in 2015 when they won 5-3 home. In the last 10 head-to-head matches, Tottenham lost here only once (2-4 in October 2012). 

Harry Kane was particularly impressive in 17 matches against teams from London to score 17 goals.

Manager Conte had the winning mentality which he brought to Chelsea but in premiership, he was faced with a lot of equally good teams, all looking to win the title. 

Getting center back Luiz and top defensive midfielder of last season Kante, he showed that defense will be the starting point of his team. At the same time, his mission was to get Hazard and Diego Costa going, after they slept through the last season. 

Those two top offense players have met all expectations to score 23 goals in the first half of the season and Conte has clearly exceeded the expectations as Liverpool lag 5 points behind (played one match more). 

Chelsea play Liverpool and Arsenal in the next give games. They are under much less pressure that their opponents when it comes to those games but the challenges have never been tougher and demand top performances.

- Each team in the league is looking to stop our run but this type of the game gives us special motivation as well - Conte said. He has all of his top players available today. Team captain Terry has been out for a while and is no longer in focus for the lineup.

Transition and counterattacking will be Chelsea's top weapons against Tottenham. That is how they ended up beating City despite being 1-0 down at half time. Chelsea have more experience and toughness compared to Tottenham but they don't have the creativity and the fast midfield as the Spurs.

- We know full well what a tough game it will be. Tottenham are a great team in fine form with a great coach that is constantly making progress. We know they will be very aggressive and try and push us into defense. My players are in great form and fully fit. I don't see a reason for fear. We have done a lot but we want more. An 8-point lead would be a massive thing for us - Conte said. The 14th win in a row would make Chelsea the only Premiership team to do that. Arsenal did it in 2002 but in two seasons.
