Nice lost the leading position after a tie against Metz

Neither of the teams are in the great form, and both coaches are struggling with lots of absences

Bastia managed to get away from the relegation zone thanks to a few successful matches, but thanks to the numerous absences at the beginning of 2017, so that successful streak ended and now they're back at the edge of the relegation zone. Their last defeat was to the direct rival Nancy, so Bastia absolutely have to get out of this with a positive outcome: 

- Even though we're fighting for survival, and Nice for the top, I believe this will be equally complicated for both of us, but at least we have the advantage of having our fans support us from the stands. It's going to be hard to get ready for this game after the last round and the weather that didn't work for us, but that's something we have to deal with. The roster is better than the last weekend, and I believe we can make a step forward in our game against Nice - Francois Ciccolini stated.

Ciccolini mentioned roster being better, meaning the midfielder Prince Oniangue and the defender Lindsay Rose who signed their contracts this week. However, they sold the forward Thievy Bifouma, but he wasn't that big of an acquisition anyway. Also, the forward Allan Saint-Maximin is suspended, and since Enzo Crivelli still didn't recover enough, the question is who'll play the top of the offense. Sebastien Squillaci and Florian Marange are still injured, and Abdelhamid El Kaoutari and Lassana Coulibaly are playing the African Cup of Nations.

Nice were a surprise of the season ever since the season started, keeping the leading position. But, losing the home game in the first round against the weak Metz cost them that first place. The red-blacks couldn't break the tricky guests who are the last team on the league table, but Monaco used that blunder and based on the better goal-difference, they now took the first place. 

After a tie against Metz, Lucien Favre is careful before going to Corsica:

- I wouldn't comment the last round anymore. Yeah, we gambled away the win, but no point discussing the spilt milk. We have to keep working like we did so far, and the results will get back as well. We can't go back and fix what we've missed. We now have another tough match against an organized team who are extremely dangerous at home. We've seen how Bastia can adjust their formation to the opponent this season, and it's actually hard to prepare for them. But, I believe that we can be successful with a bit of luck. 

The guests have lots of absences to deal with as well - the starting goalie Yoan Cardinale is out, as well as Mouez Hassen, Valentin Eysseric, Younes, Belhanda, Olivier Boscaglio and Paul Baysse. The midfielder Ricardo Pereira joined them, and will be out for at least a month. The midfielder Remi Walter got injured last weekend, and even though there's still hope he won't be out much, he definitely won't be playing today. Also, Jean Michel Seri is playing the African Cup of Nations. The only plus for the guests is that the forward Mario Balotelli will be back after finishing his suspension.
