    I can't help but constantly think that Milano are just a shadow of the team from last season. They are on a 12-game winning run but the quality of the Italian league is not very good. Reggiana and Venezia are their only contenders, with Sassari sometimes doing brilliantly. As the preview says, this will be their toughest away game in the season. Venezia are the runner-ups and will try their absolute best to get only two points short of the top table opponents. They are among the best defenses in the league (73 points on average) and need to be good on the defensive end today in order to create the chance for a win. Milano record 85 on average, but the stats are blown up by their performances against poor defenses (Varese 105, Sassari 112 and Trento 102. When faced with good defenses, Milano are nowhere near as convincing (Cremona 68, Avellino 69, Reggiana 76, Roma 79, Pistoia 79). None of those matches is over this margin, while Venezia had overs only against fast-paced Varese (95) and Sassari (83 in regulation time). Stone, Goss, and Viggiano are very good guards at Venezia, and Nelson, Ortner and Ress proved they can deal with Samuelson and Melli in the final last season. The total under at 154 is a good choice as well. Details

    I've been waiting for the online bookmakers to publish the margin at this game and instead of the 5.5 margin I was expecting got 6.5, which I simply have to go for. Why? These two teams played 5 unders in all previous five head-to-head games. I don't see an reason for this one to end differently. Both teams' players had busy schedule last weekend - El Pozo and Inter Movistar played a derby match, while Barcelona had a slip against Zaragoza. Fernandao is back all the way from Russia, while the Argentinians played their games all over Italy last round, and all of that was just two or three days ago. There's was not time for preparation left, let alone for recuperation. If both teams are good at something, it's defense. I already wrote about Argentina, they won the Intercontinental Cup in Kuwait, players like Boruto and Cuzzolino are among the best ones in the Italian league that is famous for most games ending as unders. This is no LNFS, Argentina won't try and outplay Spain, especially not in this game. Even though this is the first and friendly game, I think the fatigue and busy schedule will result in another tough meeting, which is why I'll go with higher stake. Details

    Even during their worst period in the season, Tofas always did well against the greatest teams. They lost to Fenerbahce by 10 points, beat Galata by 11, lost to Karsiyaka by 8. They are a much better and more stable team today, much tougher in defense. Since coach Zouros took over, Tofas lost only one out of 6 games by more than 13 points (to Banvit by 14 points). The have the quality to make this an interesting game.
    Another reason to bet here is Efes, who are not offense-oriented and who won only 5 Beko League games by more than 13 goals (out of 17). They are set to face Fener in a great Euroleague clash in a few days. A win would be crucial in their bit to make it in the QFs. Ivkovic needs to leave two players out due to foreigner's rule and I don't think this will be a walk in the park for Fener. Under at 82 for Efes is a good option too since Tofas never conceded more than 80 since the Greek coach took over and you know everything about Efes' style. Turkish teams are very oriented on Europe, which resulted in Galata's defeat to a bottom-table opponent last weekend, Fener struggling with Trabzon, Besiktas losing home to Gaziantep, and so on. No team that is in European competitions had it easy. Details

    A huge handicap but the difference between teams is huge as well. Veszprem have no mercy, they beat Radnicki last week by 16 goals, then went to Croatia to beat Nexe by 16. All the players are good to go, Ortega reshuffles quite a lot but always goes for the win. Given the fact he has a a few options for each position, it doesn't really matter who is on the bench and who in the game. Every single player is doing his best. Veszprem will meet Celje in Champions League next round and Ortega won't allow them do not do their best. If they beat Vardar by 8, Tatran by 12, Nexe by 18, Meskov and Zagreb by 5 home, they can beat Borac by as many goals as necessary. I'm pretty sure it won't be by less than 15. Borac's players are quite old, with key players well over 30, and bad goal keepers. Trivudza and Obradovic did badly in the first part of the season and only a miracle can prevent Veszprem winning by less than 15 goals. Details

    Delic admitted that he has no confidence and is not capable of playing on hard court following the defeat to Dodig in Zagreb last week. His style is not cut out for these conditions and he recorded a total of three wins indoors. Conditions in Bergamo are even faster than in Zagreb, but Delic said he will force hard court tournaments to make some improvement there. Petzschner has almost 150 wins indoors but physically isn't capable of tying more than three matches, which is why he retired in Hong Kong. I don't know if he's fit and ready now or struggling with some problems, but he had enough time to rest and probably wouldn't be here if there were any injury-struggles. Especially because he's using protected ranking, which does run out, here. He would not play this week if not read. And if he is ready, this is a good bet. Dodig drove Delic crazy by coming on the net and the German does it even better. We have a case of an opponent not comfortable in these conditions and the other one who will be able to take advantage of it. Delic will clearly use this just to gain some experience since he has not game or confidence or these conditions. Confidence might not be German's strong suit either, but he should take advantage of other things. I went with the option where forfeit is void since I think that will happen if he's in pain. Details

    Neither played did anything special this season, with Bonaveture's match against Allertova being the only one worth mentioning since she managed to stay close for quite some time against the opponent who's currently at her best. Both Bonaventure and Liebens set the bar pretty high for this season and see the tournament in their country as a great way to get going. Unfortunately, they are set to face each other in the final qualifying round and one of them will lose. Since Bonaventure played better in qualifying matches and generally does better, she should be able to win convincing. She is very focused on each shot, doesn't make too many mistakes, serves better and knocked out opponents much better than Liebens in a convincing manner. On the other hand, Liebens is not very good in her service games, which will result in a lot of break points for Bonaventure. Since opponents know each other very well and since they both play home, making prognosis can be tricky. But both are very keen to do well and will try their best. Bonaventure is more stable and Liebens knows it, which could cause her problems with confidence. Details

    Zvonareva has already played 5 matches this season and as she admitted, that means a lot. She's got plenty of room for progress and I'm sure she'll be getting better as time goes by. She did very well early in the season, both in Shenzen and AO, especially against Serena in the first set. She got here on a wildcard, had two titles here, and 18-5 record. Wang+s matches early in the season proved she is not capable of playing at a high level through the match. Both Babos and Hercog covered this handicap (3.5) despite losing the first set. Shvedova won the national team match by three games and even she lost a set. Wang played quite a few matches for the national team week, which cannot be good since she's not used to it. She did 4 singles matches, one doubles (retired 3 games in), and cancelled another one the next day. Plus, Wang played in the cold conditions in Guangzhou and has to adjust to very hot weather and high humidity. Adaptaion won't be easy, we know how players do when arriving to such different conditions this late. I think Wang will be no exception. Zvonareva had more time for adjustment, she's much better than Wang, has good record here and I'm sure will record an easy win. Details
