Celta are on a 6-game losing run and have not scored a single goal for 7 rounds. Miraculously, they play the role of the favorite today against Valencia, who have not been doing this well in years. I really don't have the slightest idea why that is so. Granted, Valencia have slipped unexpectedly a few times this season, in La Coruna for example, but I don't understand the reasoning behind regarding a team that have not scored for 600 minute as a favorite against a team that beat Real last round. The visitors are without a few (not key) players, but Celta have the same or even greater problems of that kind. I even went to check the stats from previous seasons, but Celta wasn't good against Valencia in the past either. In the last two seasons (since Celta started playing top division) each of these teams won once in Vigo. I wanted to go with the sure bet at Valencia's win, but when I saw these crazy odds, I decided to go for the visitors' win without a draw that is payed great too. Details

Nantes will probably not get a better chance for a win that this one. The visitors are injury-hit, without Bultor and Patry, and Le Goff. That means coach Le Marrec is left with a single middle-blocker and Lafitte will probably be joined by Schneider. That in turn means they are left with no opposite and the situation get very difficult. Nantes are better than their ranking suggests, but they are on a bad roll. Coach Denmar has all the players at his disposal today, and they are motivated to do well and will probably not be given a better chance than this one. Montpellier are struggling with injuries and bad form. They managed to get two sets against Ajaccio, but Bultor and Patry were on the team back then. This will be the clash of two different concepts. Nanntere were building their game around offense lately, while Nancy had to rely on defense more since Adams left. However, I expect that Nancy set up their pace home and that the game will be tough. Nanterre won the last 6 head-to-head games (played total of 4 this and last season). Nancy scored 68 (overtime included), 69, 50, and 70 in those four. They played nine championship games and never once went over this margin. It happened a few times in Eurocup only, but they weren't convincing then either. The home team were limited to only 46 points in Valencia on Wednesday, with all their problems following Adam's departure emerging. I thus expect them to focus on defense more today, which should make the game even less productive. They went over this margin in only two championship games (in the convincing win over Bourg and the weird game against Cholet). They managed to impose a physically tough game and that is what I expect to happen today as well. A more efficient game at 80 or more points would make Nanterr's changes greater and Weisz knows that. I expect them to end at around 70 points and if anyone finishes with more, it should be Nanterre, who are in better shape right now and have proved to be capable of played good defense in many meetings this season. If Nantes were coming to Denain in full lineup, they'd still have slim chances of winning because Jean-Christophe Prat's team are amazing at home. They have a series of six wins right now, and won seven out of eight at home. They even crushed Monaco with a two-digited difference, and then Souffel by 50 in the last Aix's home match. Against Saint-Quentin, Fos and Poitiers, they covered the handicap in the wins, and if we would go and compare, this Nantes without three main players (Relphorde, Warren, Durham) are much closer to Aix in quality than to Poitiers, for example. Just leaving three key players at home shows how much coach Franck Collineau wants to be good in the Cup, and I think this Denain should cover the handicap even if they separate themselves early on, and the substitutes take over. They played against Aix, and scored 68 points out of 110. Nantes were defeated four out of five times in away games with a double-digited difference even with these three. Who can afford can try Nantes under 69.5 because Denanin are a great defensive team, and the guests will lose about 40 points without those three, as well as 20 rebounds and 6.5 assists. Details

It's almost impossible to play a match under 60 goals against Israel. They play a wild 3-3 defense, run full force the whole match, and have very weak goalies. Their offense is definitely their best defense, and the fact that they play an aggressive defense shortens the time the opponents play the offense, which leads to plenty of shots, and also goals. If neither of the teams played on such a small number of goals yesterday, the margin would probably have been 60, which sounds more realistic. Mostly because Hungary slowed the rhythm down against the Dutch. Israel did the same themselves yesterday, mostly to be well rested for today and this match that will have a completely different rhythm. Details

Kutno and Torun developed great rivalry back when they were second tiers and their head-to-head matches are always very important. Kutno's offense is clearly in decline, having went over the 74-points margin only once in regulation time in the last 9 rounds (against poor Tarnozbrzeg's defense). They scored 66 in the last round and home against offense-oriented Szczecin only 70 (66 against Anwil, 68 against Slupsk, 61 against Stelmet, 66 against Trefl...). They lost to Torun home 70-73 in preseason. This should be a close and tough game. Torun concede around this margin on average, but the last three rounds clearly displayed their defense progress. Tarnobrzeg scored only 61 against them, and Slupsk and Stelmet were limited under this margin. Torun conceded more than 80 to powerful offenses like Trefl, Turow, and Koszalin, which is not relevant for this game given Kutno's offense quality. Details

If there is a team that can regret the fact they had to go on a championship break, it's Metzingen. They were on a 7-game winning run until 19.11. (five championship games, two Cup games) even managing to beat the runnerup Leipzig away. Five of their players were not with the team for almost a month. All the back players were with their respective national teams, which resulted in Metzingen losing two games after the break. The second defeat was bad because the coach saw they were going to lose and used the second half to give all of his players a chance. A few days before that second match (Thuringen, 22-34) the club announced that their top player Minevskaya is o join Leipzing at season's end, which left some doubt about her motivation. She said she will do her best regardless and went on to prove by seven goals against Thuringer.
The odds are influenced by Matzingen's two bad performances and we should take advantage of it. It's a well-experienced team whose starting lineup is made of national team players, they're one of the favorites for two top spots in the league and they need to confirm that the results before the break weren't a coincidence. Nilufer finished first part of the season in spot 4, which is better then Galatasaray. Their 7 wins after 11 rounds suggest that the 4th spot is no coincidence. Against leading Vakifbanka and Fenerbahce Nilufer got one set, they beat Galatasaray 3-1 and lost the first head-to-head match with Eczacibasi 2-3. The fact is, Nilufer have three great foreigners on the team (Herrera, Nizetich, and Ruseva) and some very talented Turkish players capable of standing up to well-experienced Eczacibasi.
Eczacibasi can count only on three foreigners in this match. Larson, Poljak, and Furst played the first head-to-head match and De La Cruz might step in Furst today, which will affect their block and offense quality. The home team play a much more important match with Volero Zuric on Tuesday and I see that as another reason for Niulfer to win at least one set today. Details

Dynamo are favored as if they are Lokomotiv or Dynamo Moscow, and that's not realistic. They have two tough, mentally and physically exhausting games in five sets behind them, and this is their third match in six days. Neftyanik are rising, they took a set to Belgorod, defeated Grozniy in the key match, and announce resistance to Dynamo. Krasnodar are anything but an image of a stable team, despite the very good roster. In nine home games, they lost a set in eight, only left Samotlor and Prikamye with nothing, and in four out of six sets, they won because of the difference. Neftyanik are an experienced team who can take advantage of Dynamo's weaknesses. Details

Darušafaka's quality isn't questionable anymore, they can face any team of the league and be an even opponent. We saw it best in the two-tree last rounds when they played great matches against Efes, Galata and Fener whom they defeated 95-91. Today, they'll face another Istanbul team who should be far easier. Istanbul changed their face a lot, Vujačić, Markota and Jenkins came and really raised the quality of their offense, so this is not the same team we've been watching last summer. They defeated Galata last weekend, with 29 points in the third period, while at the same time, Vujačić's arrival really weakened the offense because the Slovenian in the defense means one player less. So, Istanbul changed drastically in both parts of the game, and I think they'll show matches more efficient than those so far. I doubt they can stop Darušafaka, and I think we should expect this game to end over 150 points. Even more so because Istanbul have a three wins series, and will feel less pressured than in the previous weeks when they had lots of problems with the roster. Details

Czech Republic are without Kasal and Recek, two key back players, and that makes them weaker than Poland, which is why I expect another convincing win for the French, maybe even more convincing than yesterday's. This is the second game in two days and the Czechs don't have that many players to choose from. The French can put pretty much anyone in the lineup, given their quality, which saw them beat the motivated home team yesterday by 7 goals and should be enough against this opponent. Details

Watching the statistics, Koroivos didn't go over this margin in the last six home games, Kifisia did in only two of the six away games, but one of those was against the offensively oriented Trikala. However, statistics isn't the only thing I rely on for this pick. Both Koroivos and Kifisia have negative series right now, and that really annulled anything good they did in the first weeks of the season. Koroivos lost five, and Kifisia four in a row, and both have an imperative to win today. Only for that, we should see a game even tougher than it would be in normal circumstances. Koroivos conceded over 80 only in Solun this season, scored 80 only against AEK in the first round, and then didn't go over 73. Kifisia's game style in away games is famous, they always want to slow the game down and rely on the firm defense, and not allow the opponent to play much. I see this game at 140 or under, so this margin's got quite a value, in my opinion. Details

The Bulgarians lost to the Germans 0-3 yesterday, but that wasn't a realistic result. They missed too much chances. Still, I expect them to easily win today because the Dutch are a really bad team. Bulgaria played the last EC, so they have a reputation, and in these categories, every win brings points. The Dutch defeated Croatia after five sets yesterday, and are formally fighting to pass through, but that's just in theory. The Bulgarians can still be among the best second-placed teams, they need two convincing wins, and I believe they'll pull it off. They played the EC qualifications last year and the Bulgarians won 25-12, 25-23 and 25-14. This is worth a big stake, but because this pick is not widely available, the stakes are adjusted, even though the limits aren't bad. I'd personally put a handicap -2.5 sets on Bulgaria with these odds. Details

Norway's win against Hungary yesterday might fool you, but Norway are a primarily defense oriented team in their successes. This generation played seven EC games, and only the one against fast Belarussia went over 51 goals (55), but that was a match for the placement. Zanotti came to the bench, a master of 6-0 defense, who left a mark in Lugi, and we all know what style that team played with in the last seasons. Iceland are even more defensively oriented, physically very strong and use those predispositions to get the desired results. In the qualifiers a year ago, in those three games, they scored 127 goals total (42.3 per game), but they crushed Georgia, and that really improved their average. They left Lithuania with five goals in the first halftime yesterday, and won the game at 42 goals. Today, someone's definitely getting a ticket for Brazil, this match means a lot, and I expect a big battle on the court that should result in a game at 50 goals or under in total. Details

With Bilyk out, Austria are showing two characteristics: playing faster, and having offensive solutions, while using the 3-2-1 zone in the defense, and that looks awful. Not surprising because they rarely used that zone before, now they have to because they don't have players tall enough to fit the 6-0, nor the top pivot for 5-1. The Russians took advantage of that in a match they kept trying to slow down, and scored 35 goals. Austria added 32, so 67 total. Today, the Team 94 will face Turkey who came rejuvenated. They showed a fast rhythm against Slovakia yesterday, and also showed their offense is much better than their defense, where these young guys simply aren't strong enough to stop the opponents. Slovakia, known for playing quite slowly compared to other teams from this generation, scored 22 in the first part, and 16 goals in the second. The offensively stronger Austrians should reach those numbers, or even go over it for a few goals. All Turkey can do is finish the job because, with what they showed yesterday, they don't have problems scoring 20 goals at all. Details

I don't think lots of goals will be scored today. Tyumen proved to be Dynamo Moscow's black cat. They proved it at the beginning of the year, defeating them 4-0 at their own court. Dynamo consolidated, but this margin seems too high. What drags on the under's side here is the fact that they finished the last three matches in the league, with this same lineup, under the margin, and that Dynamo's team is full of the Brazilians who are definitely calmed by the Xmas break, which some used to go home to Brazil, or to travel, like Pula who visited his Brazilian "cousins" in England. A smaller stake as always because on the o/u because the goalie might be a player, too. The players say something similar, so why not trust them? These points are very important for both teams, and they'll have to struggle for each goal. Dynamo don't expect a walk in the park, but for an under in futsal, they need goalies to be good and a bit of luck. Details
