Paris with massive lineup-struggles

The far most important problem for the home team will be the fact they have to do without Ibrahimovic tonight. But, PSG already managed to bring down Barcelona this season without the Swedish striker

All the millions that the Arab sheikhs invested in the team might pay off this season as PSG are currently in the race for three trophies. They already managed to clinch one last weekend - the least important League Cup title when crushing Bastia 4-0 in the final. 

Right after that Bastia game, Paris turned to their next opponent. Barcelona knocked them out of this very Champions League stage two years ago despite not beating able to beat them in any of the two games (2-2, 1-1). Also, these teams met in group stage this season when Paris won 3-2 home, while losing 3-1 in Barcelona in the final round when both teams already secured a spot in the next stage.

The French team handled the mighty Barca quite well this season but coach Blanc is having massive injury-struggles today that could affect his team's performance. The far most important problem is the absence of Ibrahimovic, who is out with a suspension, having been sent off in the round of 16 match against Chelsea. Midfielder Verrati and defender Aurier are out with suspensions as well, while Motta won't play with an injury. Blanc decided to put winger Moura and defender Luiz on the list. The problem with those two is that neither of them really recovered completely and both are very questionable for today.

RCD Espanyol

- We have been knocked out of Champions League in a pretty frustrating manner the last two seasons but that game at Stamford Bridge proved we learned some lessons from it all. We played Barcelona twice this season and those games need to teach us what to change and what to keep on doing regarding our game. We are one of only few teams that managed to score three goals against Barcelona in a single game, which is great. However, we couldn't stop the opponents from scoring either. Ideally, we would prevent them from scoring in the fist leg but Barcelona are among those European teams capable of scoring against anyone anyplace - PSG's Maxwell said.

Unlike the home team that did as expected in League Cup, the Catalans had a tough away game with Sevilla to do last weekend. It seemed they were set to get the points but Sevilla scored two goals to equalize, making the race for the Spanish championship title very complicated once again. 

The Spanish media see all the lineup struggles at PSG as a chance for Barcelona but Martinez warns:

- Yes, the home team have problems, but we need to think of our first head-to-head this season when they were also without Ibrahimovic, which didn't stop them from beating us. Ibra played the second match and we won it. What I'm trying to say is, Blanc has a lot of players with exceptional quality and they are still a great opponent, regardless of the absences. We need to pay special attention to counter-attacks and set-pieces. I think that is their strong suit.

Martinez has a lot less problems compared to Blanc as he cannot count only on Dani Alves today (suspension).
