A win would see Roma get through to knock-out stage, City won't secure a Round of 16 spot even by winning

There's a lot of possible outcomes in this group, but the fact remains that only Roma have their faith in their own hands. If they beat City tonight, they will secure a spot in the knock-out stage. City will have to do without their top scorer Aguero

If a game of football lasted for 85 minutes, Roma would have secured a spot in Champions League second stage after round 5. But, CSKA managed to score an equalizer in stoppage time of their game with the Italian team in Moscow, while City scored a winning goal home against Bayern with only a few minutes left on the clock.

Those games tied Roma, Manchester City, and CSKA at five points, meaning all of them have the chance to secure the runner-up spot, just behind the untouchable Bayern. Garcia's team would secure it if they record a win over City today, but if CSKA loses to Bayern, Roma can go to runner-up spot even with a goalless draw.

Garcia wants a successful game for his team:

- We should have been out of running by this stage because we were in the fourth pot and yet we're still in the hunt. We have the chance to play this game before our passionate fans at Olympico. We need to take advantage of each and every moment, a win would be amazing. We know Manchester are a good team. It will be very tough but I think we can be successful. We need to win because we don't know what will happen in the game between Bayern and CSKA. Our only option is to score one goal more than City.

Roma's defense hasn't had most brilliant performances lately, even though that has always been a great segment of their game until Garcia took over. Roma are undefeated the last 5 games, but De Sanctis conceded 6 goals in the last 4 games. His mistake on Saturday allowed Sassoulo to score the first of of their two goals, but Roma in the end managed to get a point despite being a man down.

Winger Ljajic turned into Roma's hero in that match and that performances might get him in the offense line today, together with Gervino and Totti. Roma's coach still can't count on injured defenders Balzaretti and Torosidis, center back Castan and young midfielder Ucan.

Things started looking up for Manchester City as they made a comeback in the game against Bayern when Sergio Aguero's hat-trick brought the German team on their knees. The brilliant Argentinean left the Premier League match with Everton on Saturday 7 minutes into the game with a knee injury.

He'll be out for at least a month, which is huge blow for the English side ahead of the Roma game. Yaya Toure is suspended and won't be on the team either, while David Silva and Kompany trained with the rest of the team after recovering from their respectful injuries. We can't expect either one of them to be fit enough for 90 minutes of such an important game though. That means the visitors might be without their 4 best players from all lines (except for the goal keeper).

It's a tough situation for manager Pellegrini since he needs at least a 1-1 draw for his team to get through, with a favorable outcome of the game in Munich. If CSKA beat Bayern, not even a win in Rome would do for City.

Anyhow, the English champions have to try and win. Withouth that, they might not even qualify for Europa League.

- We made a lot of mistakes in this competition, especially when we met CSKA in Moscow, but we want to prove that we deserve a spot in Champions League Round of 16 in Rome. We beat Bayern and we can beat anyone - Pellegrini said. It will be a massive problem for him to make up for the absent players today, especially since City weren't too successful in their key Champions League games the last few seasons.
